Rescue Us, O God. We Need You.

In honor of so many who have died and who continue to face grave danger, we gathered in silent prayer yesterday at this Wall. Our tears have wet the ground where we kneel. Our cries have burned within our throats. Our hearts have been laid bare before You. Father, have mercy, please.

Still so many need rescuing. You know where they are, Lord. Surround them now in Your loving arms. Hide them from harm, and rescue them. Make a way for their escape. Provide for those in need. Be their Shield and Rescuer. Give wisdom and part the waters for those You are sending to the rescue. Rush in with Your angel armies to fight for those in harm’s way. Get each person in need to safety. But most of all, Lord, pull them up into Your arms and save them. So many lost in need of a Savior. Give Your people songs to sing aloud in the face of death and danger, and the Good News upon their tongues, sharing Your love with those who have stood strong against You. Break down every wall in every heart, and invade it with Your love. Let what the enemy has meant for great evil become the pathway to salvation and freedom, as thousands turn to You. In the midst of so much devastation, Lord, we ask You for miracles of provision, healing, protection, and life. For visions and dreams, signs and wonders no one can deny. For You to rise up and fight for every heart to surrender to Your love. For a Great Awakening that shimmers within every corner, sparks into flame every heart, and spreads across every nation and people, drawing all hearts to You.

This drawing by my daughter speaks such truth in the face of so much tragedy. I love how she is wrapping her arm about what small piece of Him she can grasp, clinging to Him in her grief and tragedy, even as He scoops her up into His hand to hold, heal, rescue, comfort, and protect.
