Pray for Myanmar

Since a coup seized power from the elected government in Myanmar earlier this year, more than 1000 people have been killed by security forces. In addition, friends of ours ministering in that area report that the effects of the pandemic have been devastating.

As a result, I’m re-posting this today (originally posted April 8, 2021):

Due to current global events, let’s pray for Myanmar, #18 on the 2021 World Watchlist of most dangerous countries for Christians.

Minority people groups have long been in peril because of an ongoing civil war that began in 1948. In addition, Buddhist extremists have launched numerous attacks against Christians in recent years. Now, violence has escalated all the more following a military coup on February 1.

Lord, we ask You please to be a shield of protection around those who are in danger. Many are hiding in the jungles along the borders, Lord. Others are facing the violence head-on. God, please go to each person, and let them know they are found. That You see them, You love them, You care about what they’re going through, and You are the Way of salvation. Show Your glory to both those who are driven by hatred and violence and those who long for peace and security. You alone can save us from the true enemy who seeks to devour. Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy, but You have come, Jesus, to bring us eternal life. John 10:10. So, find every heart that has hardened against You and soften it. Hear every cry of the distressed, and answer them. Overturn every plan of the enemy, and bring forth a Great Awakening to You in this country. Set Buddhist monks and followers free from the demons that bind them. Give them dreams and visions that will point them to Truth. Preach the Gospel clearly to them in a way they can easily understand, and open their eyes to see You as You truly are, tremble in fear of the Lord, and surrender their lives to You. May they cast down their idols and worship You alone as God. Give Christians such faith, grace, hope and love during these trying times that they will rise up like beacons of Light in the darkness, shining for Your glory, stepping out in powerful acts of love and miracles, that everyone around them will see the Light of Your love in them and be drawn to You like moths to a flame. Reach into every people group, Lord, preaching Your Word in every language to every heart and home in every tribe, until all profess You as Lord. Cast out the demons that have tethered so many to a life of fear and idolatry, and set every person free to worship You and enjoy Your love and salvation. Make a way where there seems to be no way, Lord, and bring peace, O God of Peace.

Join with other believers all across the world to pray for our nations and the whole world at the Prayer Wall. Let’s push back the darkness together as one, and pray forth God’s purposes in these trying times. “For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:1 rsv
