Quiet Times with God

What distracts you from having a quiet time every day? Or from breaking away for a personal retreat alone with God every now and then?

Remember, the enemy’s main aim is to keep you from praying, to draw you away from God, to stop you from bringing Him glory. That means the best way to win any battle in life is to draw near to God.

Lord, how has the enemy been keeping me from spending time with You? What do You want me to do to change that? Please do a deep work both in my heart and in my schedule to open up time for the things that matter most. Empower me to say “no” to what You have not called me to and “yes” to what You are wanting to do in me and through me.

One thing that has helped me considerably in setting aside time for the Lord is to make Him my first thought as soon as I wake up in the morning. Before I think of all my problems or all the things I have to do, and think on Him and hand Him my day. Then I get up, wash my face, grab a cup of coffee and settle into a comfortable spot with my Bible and journal to spend time alone with Him.

If you would like help with making daily quiet times with God your new habit, I’ll be posting daily reminders on my Facebook author page for a week. Follow me there, or friend me on my profile. Make sure you click “following” and then from the pop-up menu, choose “favorites.”

If you comment on this post in either of those places, I’m happy to send you personal messages this coming week with tips on making your quiet times meaningful.
