Remembering today what our Savior went through for our freedom, and praying for both persecutors and those enduring persecution for Christ’s sake throughout the world today:
Lord, thank You for Your gift of the cross. Whatever we suffer feels so small compared to Your taking on the whole burden of our sin and carrying it with You to the cross. You died for us, Lord, so that we can live for You. You promised that those who want to live a godly life will be persecuted. 2 Timothy 3:12. Some of us have faced ridicule or lost our jobs. But others have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith; some have been forced to watch their families die. Oh, Father. Today we cry out for those facing persecution for Your name’s sake. Give us strength, endurance, faith, hope, and most of all, LOVE. Empower us to love our persecutors so lavishly with Your grace that their demons flee, as they fall on their faces before You, arms open wide, worshipping You alone as God, and receiving Your free gift of grace. For You alone are Love. Your grace is sufficient even for those who have brought death by their hand. Your arm is long enough to save even what we might see as the worst of sinners. So, save them, Lord. Save those who have caused pain and suffering as they have fought against You. Win that battle for their souls now, Lord. Bring persecutors to their knees. May evil regimes fall, and Love reign in their place. Use Your servants to draw them into Your arms and love them as You have first loved us. And rescue us, Lord, that we may live to fight another day, winning each victory together with You, all the way until the day we see You again face to face. Empower us to not only endure, but triumph, Lord. We need You. Yes, thank You for the cross. We lay every burden down now at Your feet so we can fight unhindered and unbound, freed by Your love and grace.
