Pray for Syria

Syria is #12 on Open Doors’ 2021 World Watchlist of most dangerous countries for Christians.

Lord, shield every Christian in Syria from harm and persecution. Young Christians are especially vulnerable to abduction, and still so many others have been displaced from their homes due to continuing civil war. Please provide for all their needs, and comfort them in every loss. Hold them in Your strong arms, increase their faith, deepen their love, remind them of Your truth to counter every lie from the enemy, and empower them to speak Your Good News to those around them in a way that is easy to understand. Hide believers from those who seek to harm them, and get them to safety quickly, Lord. Rescue the children. Provide loving homes for the orphans. Use the church as a place of shelter and peace in the midst of chaos and war. Give every Syrian a hunger for You. When they feel afraid and cry out to You, answer them, O God. Make Christians a safe place for those who need help, and then touch the hearts of the lost with Your love through them. Be loud and clear and miraculous as You pursue those who are persecuting Your church. Overwhelm them with Your love and mercy. Penetrate their thoughts and dreams. Halt their movements whenever they lift a weapon against a Christian. Call them to Yourself, O God, to lay down violence, evil, destruction, and death; and choose mercy, Truth, Love, and Life instead.
